RCI On & Off System Roads - Current & Future Flood Exposure - 2019

This dataset contains analyses of roadways exposed to current flooding and future flooding under various sea level rise (SLR) scenarios. Roadways analyzed in this dataset include on-system and off-system roads from the October 2019 version of the Florida Department of Transportation Roads Characteristics inventory (RCI) dataset. The FDOT GIS On-systems Roads feature class provides spatial information on active main-line roads maintained by Florida DOT. Off-System roads consist of roads not maintained by Florida DOT that are city or county owned. This dataset was created for the Sea Level Scenario Sketch Planning Tool.
The purpose of the Sea Level Scenario Sketch Planning Tool is to help identify transportation infrastructure vulnerable to current and future flood risks. The tool analyzes and visualizes current flood risks (100-year and 500-year floodplains and hurricane storm surge zones) as well as future flood risks using sea level rise (SLR) scenarios from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/ National Climate Assessment. The Tool includes (1) a map viewer to help visualize vulnerable infrastructure to flooding, (2) GIS data layers available for download, and (3) an ArcGIS calculator tool for creating GIS layers of SLR inundation. https://sls.geoplan.ufl.edu/

NATIONAL HIGHWAY SYSTEM (NHS)
The NHS is a subset of public roads, mostly on the State Highway System, that have national significance. It includes Interstates and other major highways, as well as smaller roads that provide immediate access to certain intermodal facilities such as airports, seaports, transit stations, and truck terminals. Roads and other facilities were originally designated as NHS facilities by Congress, and FHWA approval is required to make any changes or additions to these designations. NHS roads are Federal-Aid Eligible, and in fact have their own category of funds. A road that is classified as a Rural Minor Collector, Rural Local, or Urban Local is not STP and is not Federal-Aid Eligible unless it happens to be an intermodal facility connector designated as NHS.
